Abstract This paper discussed how information communication technology can be used to promote effective teaching and learning of social studies. It looked briefly at some of the major concepts and issues related to social studies and information communication technology education. It advocates the integration of internet technology into teaching and learning of social studies at the primary and secondary levels of education. The paper suggested some basic guidelines for integrating the use of information communication technology into the social studies curriculum and enumerated benefits of using internet technology for teaching and learning in social studies. The paper also identified some of the likely problems and prospects of using internet technology for effective teaching and learning in social studies. The paper made some recommendations on how to solve these problems.

Abstract This paper examines education as a vehicle for the management of conflict and crisis in order to ensure national security. Poverty, joblessness and restive youths have led to violent conflicts in Nigeria. This paper asserts the view that moral education can be used as a strategy in crisis and conflict management. Education will cause enlightenment of every Nigerian citizen and help to widen their horizon for acculturation and refinement in their approach to life. Abstract This paper examines social studies education as an instrument in stemming corruption for national transformation and economic development in Nigeria. It views the introduction of social studies into our school curriculum as a way of helping in the production of responsible citizens. The paper sees social studies as a field of study that instills in students the knowledge, skill, attitudes and actions that are considered important in the relationship and interaction of man and those around him and the entire environment (Ogun Bameru 2006). It also examines the concept corruption, transformation causes of corruption, reasons why the fight against corruption in Nigeria is not working. The paper recommends among others, that social studies education helps in inculcating worthy attitude and habit (worthy character development) that will go a long way in eliminating corruption and institute needed changes for national transformation.
